Bimose Tribal Council has been operating since 1989. Our Tribal Council is owned and directed by 10 Anishinaabe communities in Northwestern Ontario:
Asubpeeschoseewagong First Nation
Eagle Lake First Nation
Iskatewizaagegan #39 Independent First Nation
Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation
Obashkaandagaang First Nation
Ochiichagwe'babigo'Ining Ojibway Nation
Shoal Lake #40 First Nation
Wabaseemoong Independent Nations
Wabauskang First Nation,
Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation
The homelands of our First Nations extend west of the Ontario-Manitoba border, east of Thunder Bay, and north of Red Lake-Sioux Lookout.
In 2014, the 10 communities established the Kiizhik Education Corporation. The vision of our Elders and leaders was to establish an Anishinaabe school to teach and practice our Anishinaabe culture, language, and traditions in an academic setting. We have achieved this vision.
More recently, the 10 communities established the Kakina Economic Development Group Limited Partnership. The Limited Partnership was established to pursue economic and employment benefits for the community members of the Limited Partners.
We have a diverse staffing complement of over 50 which include Elders, language speakers, professionals in areas including Engineering, Technical Services, Education, & Management. We are a pro-active, ethical, and transparent organization. The foundation of our organizations is our Anishinaabe teachings and traditions and we strive to deliver the very best services possible to our communities.
